Privacy Policy
Last updated September 23, 2026.
The short version
- You don't need an account, and we never ask for your name, address or phone number.
- Everything you type into a calculator stays in your browser. It is never sent to us or stored.
- The site sets no cookies. It counts page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which works without cookies and doesn't follow you to other sites.
- If you email us, we use your address to reply and for nothing else.
Who we are
GroundUpCost (groundupcost.com) publishes cost estimates for home improvement projects in the United States. You can reach us at contact@groundupcost.com.
What we collect
Calculator inputs
The calculators run entirely in your browser. The numbers and options you choose are never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and nothing is saved when you leave the page.
Technical data from your visit
The site is served by Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes the technical details of each request — your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time — to deliver pages, keep them fast and block attacks. We don't use this data to identify you or build a profile of you. Cloudflare handles it under its own privacy policy.
Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It records the page address, the site you came from, general details your browser sends such as device type and country, and how quickly the page loaded. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not fingerprint it, so we cannot identify individual visitors or follow them to other sites. Cloudflare processes this under its own privacy policy.
If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. Mail to our address is forwarded by our domain registrar's email service. We use it only to reply, and we don't add you to any list.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies. The one script it loads is Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless by design, and there are no advertising or social media scripts.
Links to other sites
Our calculators cite their sources and link to them — government agencies, suppliers and contractors. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy doesn't cover.
Children
This site is for adults planning home projects. It isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live — for example California, Colorado, Virginia, the European Union or the United Kingdom — you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to have it corrected or deleted, and to opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising. In practice, the only personal information we hold is email you've sent us. To make a request, write to contact@groundupcost.com and we'll respond within the time your state's or country's law requires. We won't treat you differently for asking.
Security
Every page is served over HTTPS. Because we don't collect calculator inputs or account details, there is very little personal information here to protect in the first place.
Changes to this policy
When our practices change — for example if we begin showing ads or linking to a quote service — we update this page before the change takes effect and revise the date at the top.
